RC 44 and the Global Labour Journal

RC44 is proud to announce that the Global Labour Journal has now become the official journal of RC44, co-hosted by the Global Labour University and supported by the International Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD) in Kassel and the Penn State Center for Global Workers’ Rights.

Two key principles have underpinned the Global Labour Journal to date: (1) to be online, open access and freely downloadable; and (2) to be run by an editorial team with colleagues from the Global South as well as North. We are pleased to confirm that both principles will be upheld in the future. Funding from the Global Labour University (GLU) and the ICDD as well as the Penn State Center for Global Workers’ Rights will ensure the open access nature of the journal. Moreover, the following four colleagues have agreed to form the next editorial team: Global South:

  • Sarah Mosoetsa (Wits University, South Africa)
  • Ben Scully (Wits University, South Africa)

Global North:

  • Alex Gallas (Kassel University, Germany)
  • Rina Agarwala (Johns Hopkins University)

Additional editorial positions include:

  • Managing editor:  Karin Pampallis (Wits University, South Africa)
  • Consulting editor: Robert O’Brien

The journal will be located at McMaster in that it will be McMaster servers and library services that will be taking care of the storage and publication system for the journal. Robert O’Brien as Consulting Editor will ensure that McMaster continues to supply the infrastructure for the journal. Overall, this is an exciting development for RC44 and its focus on encouraging critical and engaged research on labour movements.
